Difference between ordinary steel pipe specifications and spiral welded pipe 

According to different welding methods, it can be divided into arc welding pipe, high-frequency or low-frequency resistance welding pipe, gas welding pipe, furnace welding pipe, Bondi pipe, and so on.  The weld shape can be divided into the straight welded pipe and spiral steel pipe.  Electric welded steel pipes are used in oil drilling and machinery manufacturing. 

Spiral welded steel pipe refers to steel pipe with joints on the surface, which is welded by bending the steel strip or steel plate into a round or square shape.

According to the weld, the shape can be divided into straight welded pipe and spiral welded pipe. 

Electric welded steel pipes are used in oil drilling and machinery manufacturing. 

Furnace welded pipe can be used as water and gas pipe, big mouth straight seam welded pipe for high-pressure oil and gas transmission, etc.  Spiral welded pipe is used for oil and gas transmission, pipe piles, piers, and so on. 

Compared with seamless steel pipe, welded steel pipe has lower cost and higher production efficiency. 

The straight welded pipe production process is simple, has high production efficiency, low cost, and rapid development. 

The strength of spiral welded pipe is generally higher than that of straight welded pipe, and the welded pipe with a larger diameter can be produced with a narrower billet, and the welded pipe with different diameters can also be produced with the same width billet. 

But compared with the same length of straight seam pipe, the weld length is increased by 30~100%, and the production speed is lower. 

Therefore, the welded pipe of small caliber is mostly straight seam welding, while the welded pipe of large caliber is mostly spiral welded spiral seam submerged arc welded steel pipe. The hot rolled strip steel is bent into a spiral shape, and the inner seam and outer seam are welded by automatic submerged arc welding to make a spiral seam steel pipe (also known as spiral welded pipe and spiral pipe). 

Spiral steel pipe can be widely used in the production of large-diameter steel pipe for the following reasons: 1) as long as the forming Angle is changed, you can use the same width strip steel pipe to produce a variety of diameters;  2) Because it is continuous bending forming, the measuring length of steel pipe is not limited;  3) The spiral shape of the weld is evenly distributed on the entire circumference of the steel pipe, so the steel pipe has high dimensional accuracy and high strength;  4) Easy to change the size, suitable for small-batch, multi-variety steel pipe production.
